As a Deputy Security Controller, you will manage the physical, technical and personnel security posture for our Leeds site alongside the wider Security Operations Team. To achieve this, you will liaise with both external MoD & civilian authorities regarding technical information, manage protectively marked material, ensure implementation of physical and documentary security policies and ensure security policies and measures are up to date.

Scope: Based in Leeds where the primary activity takes place, the role may have occasional additional responsibility for other sites in the UK offices and as such will require some infrequent travel to those sites.

Role Requirements:

  • You will bring a good understanding of government and industry standard security policy, standards and best practice guidance.
  • You will demonstrate technical knowledge and skills reflective of a security professional who has progressed within security positions of increasing responsibility.
  • You will understand how the team coordinates their efforts to achieve the overall objectives of Security.
  • You will have knowledge of relevant MoD processes to include security and FSC processes.
  • A working knowledge of GovS 007.
  • Must be capable of interpreting the requirements of the Security Controller and any other duties as and when required.
  • An understanding of the risks and subsequent impact to the business of failing to comply fully with appropriate guidelines, policy or legislation.
  • Ensure security requirements are reflected in the company’s processes, as appropriate.
  • Manage security of information as defined in the Security manual.
  • Ensure all access to sensitive assets are recorded and controlled, to meet the requirements of the “need-to-know” principle.
  • Represent the business during briefings, meetings and training sessions, as and when necessary and to disseminate information to the relevant audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Physical Security: Assist the Security Controller with the administration and management of the Guards, NPSA furniture, keys, locks, combinations changes, logs, Disposal of assets, AACS, CCTV, IDS, Building and walls, area security, routines.
  • Personnel Security: Assist with final checks, approving access to areas, processing visitor requests and IVCO requests.
  • Access Control Security: Organising regular combination changes, Document checks, mustering, Training, booking in/out of asset, movement/transport plans, Liaising with the authority.
  • Management Security: Logging SALs, and administrating supply chain checks and contracts.
  • Investigation Security: Breaches, electronic security issues, SAL, Personnel, CTSA liaison, Asset loss, criminal activity, authority liaison, reporting & investigation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • British Citizen (e.g. to enable handling of “Eyes Only” material).
  • Capable of achieving SC clearance as a minimum (preferably DV).
  • Although no specific educational qualifications are mandated, a good standard of verbal and written English would be expected.
  • Attention to detail and good organisational skills.
