Responsible for implementing and supporting improvements, efficiency, enhancing software quality, and accelerating delivery times. Having the shared responsibility between development/operations with a focus on people, process, tools that take a unified customer/user focus. In a multi-disciplinary team with Development, QA, IT Operations, Infosec, UCD, etc. all working together to achieve a common goal of applying best practice in DevOps.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience of DevOps tooling, containers and containerisation
- Communication: Able to speak to stakeholders and be able to transfer business requirements into technical implementation
- Facilitate information/business knowledge: Able to act as a business SME and understand what the business needs and how to support this into an efficient DevOps team.
- Stakeholder Management: Able to negotiate and influence with stakeholders to ensure the service runs effectively and efforts are placed correctly.
- 5+ Years as a DevOps Engineer
- Strong knowledge in AWS and CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance
- Practical experience using Terraform, Kubernetes and Helm
- Knowledge of Java (Spring) is ideal
- Extensive experience of cloud computing, and best practices/emerging technologies
- Experienced with multiple ecosystem databases, architecture and integration
- Experience with monitoring tools to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Kubernetes & Helm: Strong understanding of container orchestration with Kubernetes and package management using Helm.
- Cloud Services (AWS): Experience with cloud platforms, specifically AWS.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Knowledge of tools like Terraform.
- CI/CD: Proficiency in setting up and maintaining pipelines, particularly with Jenkins.
- Database Management: Experience with schema change management (e.g., Liquibase).
- Scripting: Ability to write automation scripts (e.g., Python).
- GitOps: Understanding of GitOps principles.
- Java & Maven: Experience with Java programming and Maven for builds.
- Core Principles: A mindset focused on automation, proactive monitoring, continuous improvement, and defining best practices.
