Job Description

Responsible for implementing and supporting improvements, efficiency, enhancing software quality, and accelerating delivery times. Having the shared responsibility between development/operations with a focus on people, process, tools that take a unified customer/user focus. In a multi-disciplinary team with Development, QA, IT Operations, Infosec, UCD etc. all working together to achieve a common goal of applying best practice in DevOps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extensive experience of DevOps tooling, containers and containerisation
  • Communication: Able to speak to stakeholders and be able to transfer business requirements into technical implementation
  • Facilitate information/business knowledge: Able to act as a business SME and understand what the business needs and how to support this into an efficient DevOps team.
  • Stakeholder Management: Able to negotiate and influence with stakeholders to ensure the service runs effectively and efforts are placed correctly.

Qualifications

  • 5+ Years as a DevOps Engineer
  • Strong knowledge in AWS and CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance
  • Practical experience using Terraform, Kubernetes and Helm
  • Experience in Python
  • Extensive experience of cloud computing, and best practices/emerging technologies
  • Experienced with multiple eco-system databases, architecture and integration
  • Experience with monitoring tools to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Kubernetes & Helm: Strong understanding of container orchestration with Kubernetes and package management using Helm.
  • Cloud Services (AWS): Experience with cloud platforms, specifically AWS.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Knowledge of tools like Terraform.
  • CI/CD: Proficiency in setting up and maintaining pipelines, particularly with Jenkins.
  • Database Management: Experience with schema change management (e.g., Liquibase).
  • Scripting: Ability to write automation scripts (e.g., Python).
  • GitOps: Understanding of GitOps principles.
  • Java & Maven: Experience with Java programming and Maven for builds.
  • Core Principles: A mindset focused on automation, proactive monitoring, continuous improvement, and defining best practices.
  • Must have willingness to travel
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
  • Must be able to attain a UK Security Clearance
