Serve as a clinical resource to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, document and record nursing care in the unit according to the execution of the prescribed treatment plan.
Communicate and interact with patient, family and health professionals regarding optimal patient care, thereby acting as a patient advocate when necessary.
Adhere to the communication process between nursing staff, health professionals, management and unit to eliminate patient care problems/issues.
Provide a quality customer care service enhancing the patient journey and experience within the area of responsibility according to Scope of Practice.
Comply with Safe medication administration SOP to ensure elimination of medication administration errors.
Always adhere to legally prescribed protocols of professionals aligned to the relevant clinical scope of practice, policies and procedures as well as legislative body requirements.
Assist and support clinic reception and all clinical departments as and when required with clinical related tasks.
Report all near misses and negative clinical incidents to the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) and report on the Incident Management System (IMS).
Assist Clinical Nurse Leader to investigate near-misses and negative clinical incidents.
Always apply basic principles of infection control and prevention and all standard precautions to ensure a safe, clean hygienic clinic environment, and correct linen management as well as HCRW management.
Actively participate in quality improvement opportunities to support the nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes.
Assist the CNL with equipment need analysis for budget/capital expenditure purposes - new medical equipment, preventative services and repair and maintenance within legal specifications.
Assist with procurement of ethical and surgical stock and consumables aligned to minimum and maximum stock levels to accommodate patient needs and prescribed treatment to prevent wastage.
Adhere to processes to ensure accurate capturing of administered stock and consumables.
Assist Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) with stock management including cycle counts and stock take.
Assist Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) with monthly duty rosters to ensure adequate staff allocation as per operational requirements, nursing hours aligned to acuities and skill mix to execute on prescribed treatment plans in accordance with the Incorporated Practice (INC) administration agreement.
Adhere to scheduled duty roster and electronic clocking process to ensure adequate nursing resources are available.
Assist with availability of all medical and non-medical consumables in accordance with operational requirement and legislation.
Maintain compliance to systems, standard operating procedures and policies according to scope of practice and legislation.
Adhere to accurate recording of all used ethical, surgical and consumable stock, schedule 5&6 registers, cold chain management, emergency trolley and equipment in accordance with legislation and SOPs.
Comply with POPIA requirements.
Record functional checks done on medical equipment and comply with relevant SOPs and manufacturers requirements according to legislation and regulations. Report non-functional equipment to CNL or responsible person to ensure safe and continuous patient care.
Adhere to the regulatory framework governing clinical practice within the area of responsibility.
Actively participate in the SHEQ risk assessment as part of the nursing team including the nursing risk matrix to identify and report on risks within the clinical areas, implement and adhere to control measures and evaluate and report to CNL the effectiveness of control measures.
Report non-compliance to safety and control measures and assist Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) to investigate non-compliance.
Comply with the disposal of Healthcare Risk Waste (HCRW) and human tissue in accordance with legislation.
Participate in the workforce surveillance programme according to Group strategy and SOPs.
Be actively involved in maintaining and sustaining the Quality Management System and related health care standards as required to retain ISO 9001 certification.
Identify self-development needs in terms of job requirements and career progression and bring these to the attention of the immediate manager.

Report, record and assist the CNL with stakeholder/customer clinical complaints as requested.
Allocate staff members in a manner that promotes optimal use of staff to provide appropriate nursing care for the individual patient regarding his/her needs and specialised skills needed by the nursing staff member through proper clinical judgement.
Adjust staff levels to provide for acuity level needs.
Actively participate in all training according to relevant training matrix to obtain sign off on compliance training, competencies aligned to daily tasks and job description.
Assess, read, understand, implement and sign off on relevant quality review tools, clinical and other processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Assess, read, understand, implement and sign off on Human Resources (HR) and other relevant Company policies and procedures.
Provide proof of registration with the relevant governing body.
Adhere to minimum requirements of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) according to relevant governing body and provide evidence accordingly.
Adhere to resource allocation schedule to provide appropriate nursing care according to needs, skills and tasks required.
Assist the CNL to ensure adequate nursing resources to cope with emergencies.
