Brighton Tech Hub, Queens Road. (Onsite full-time) OR
London HQ (near Liverpool St station) onsite 3 days per week, with 2 days per week at Brighton. Travel will be expensed, to be discussed with the Recruiter.

Due to expansion, we are looking to increase our observability teams in the UK and US.

What is an Observability Engineer?

An Observability Engineer is responsible for monitoring and analysing system performance to ensure smooth operations. They set up tools to track metrics, collect logs, and identify issues early. By implementing alerting systems and tracing, they help troubleshoot problems quickly. Their role involves collaborating with teams to optimise system performance and ensure reliability across complex environments.

About You

You may have studied cloud infrastructure and services (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) at university and covered monitoring, logging, tracing, and how these aspects are important for troubleshooting and scaling cloud-based applications. Observability is often taught as part of DevOps practices, focusing on continuous monitoring, performance tuning, and efficient incident response. You may have studied systems administration or network management where observability concepts are discussed in terms of network health, system performance and troubleshooting.

Our Training

Don’t worry if you don’t have all the skills. You’ll join a cohort of new joiners and embark on a virtual training journey of up to 12 weeks duration conducted by our industry expert trainers. Training is tutor-led, with group sessions and individual assignments. We will equip you with the essential skills to become an Observability Engineer and gain industry-recognised qualifications in tools such as Splunk or Cribl.

Responsibilities

On completion of training, and with natural progression you will gain experience and be able to:

  • Translate requirements into business and technology solutions.
  • Lead delivery teams.
  • Collaborate with client product owners and be able to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Become familiar with Agile or Scrum methodologies and write clear documentation and manage backlogs.
  • Evaluate current systems and identify gaps in meeting business needs.
  • Build and manage client relationships and deliver value to clients.

Salary

Starting salary is £18,000 during training. Increasing to £27,000 on completion of training. A further increment to £30,000 per annum after 12 months with us (after training).
