Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Drainage Estimator to join their Drainage Department.
The Vacancy
As a Drainage Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates across a range of projects. Working closely with internal teams, suppliers and other stakeholders, you will review project information, complete take-offs and prepare pricing.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Drainage Estimator or within a similar estimating role, with the ability to interpret technical information and work accurately with costs and specifications.
Key Responsibilities for Drainage Estimator
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for drainage and associated works, including surface water, foul water, stormwater attenuation and sewerage systems.
- Review site plans, technical drawings, specifications and existing layouts to identify project requirements and potential challenges.
- Complete detailed quantity take-offs from engineering and technical drawings.
- Prepare detailed pricing for materials, labour, plant and associated works.
- Maintain accurate cost information and unit rates to support future estimating activity.
- Prepare tender submissions and supporting commercial documentation.
- Work closely with design and project teams to assess proposed solutions and identify practical and cost-effective alternatives.
- Identify potential commercial, technical and delivery risks and ensure these are appropriately considered within estimates.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and negotiate costs where appropriate.
- Support project teams with cost management, variations and changes throughout project delivery.
- Provide commercial and technical input to help ensure projects remain within agreed budgets.
- Maintain awareness of relevant industry standards, regulations and best practice.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, systems and cost databases.
About You
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Drainage Estimator, Estimator or within a related technical environment.
- Good understanding of drainage systems and associated works.
- Experience preparing estimates, costings and tender submissions.
- Confident interpreting drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Strong attention to detail with good numerical and commercial awareness.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
- Organised and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proactive, analytical and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
