A hands-on leadership opportunity within a friendly, family-feel business. We're delighted to be partnering with a well-established, growing business in Gillingham to recruit an experienced Warehouse Manager. You'll work closely with the Directors and be given real autonomy to shape and improve the warehouse operation.
The Role - 60% Operational, 40% Coordination & Admin
This is a true hands-on management role. Approximately 60% of your time will be spent on the warehouse floor, leading from the front across goods in, picking, packing, dispatch, and stock control. The remaining 40% of the role focuses on coordination and administration, including:
- Invoicing and raising delivery documentation
- Scheduling logistics and liaising with couriers
- Managing stock systems, cycle counts, and discrepancies
- Reviewing and improving processes and procedures
You'll take full responsibility for an 11,000 sq ft warehouse operation and lead a team of six.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee day-to-day goods in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch
- Ensure orders are accurate and delivered on time
- Maintain efficient layout and space utilisation
- Drive continuous improvement across processes
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of 6
- Allocate workload and manage daily staffing levels
- Conduct training and performance management
- Promote a calm, supportive, safety-first culture
Stock & Logistics
- Manage stock movements, cycle counts, and stock takes
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Manage relationships with carriers and handle delivery issues
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with H&S legislation and company policies
- Maintain safe use of forklifts, racking, and equipment
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for a strong decision maker with a calm, supportive leadership style and excellent people skills. You will bring:
- Proven warehouse management or supervisory experience
- A passion for leading and developing teams
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence using warehouse systems
- Forklift experience (Counterbalance and Reach Truck preferred)
