Our client, a growing but well-established UK manufacturing business, is looking for an experienced Stock Controller to join its warehouse operation during an exciting period of expansion. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes, and making a real impact within a fast-paced environment. The business manufactures and distributes a wide range of liquids, all handled in-house from production through to dispatch. As warehouse activity continues to grow, the company is investing heavily in improving stock accuracy, organisation, and operational efficiency.
Working as part of a newly expanded three-person stock control team, you will play a key role in driving warehouse standards forward and helping achieve stock accuracy levels of 95%+.
The Role
This is a hands-on position suited to someone proactive, organised, and confident investigating and resolving stock issues independently. You will work closely with warehouse and senior management teams to improve stock processes and support wider operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities of a stock/inventory controller
- Maintain accurate stock levels across warehouse locations
- Carry out regular stock counts and investigate discrepancies
- Identify root causes of stock issues and implement corrective actions
- Manage stock movements using Sage 200 and barcode scanning systems
- Process stock transactions accurately using handheld scanners and PC systems
- Receive, check, and book inbound deliveries
- Ensure stock is stored correctly and warehouse locations remain organised
- Support improvements to warehouse layout, stock flow, and efficiency
- Operate and manage a small 1L filling line alongside another team member
- Help maintain stock availability to support customer demand
Skills & Experience of the successful stock controller
- Previous experience in a Stock Controller or Inventory Controller role
- Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Ideally experienced with Sage 200 or similar ERP systems
- Comfortable using handheld barcode scanners and computer-based stock systems
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving ability
- Able to work independently and take ownership of improvements
