Role title: Operations, HSE and Data Supervisor

Function: Operations

Purpose of the role:

The HSE & Data Lead is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the Technology Testing Hub (TTH) at Bridge of Don, ensuring the site operates to the highest standards of health, safety, environmental management, compliance and operational excellence. The role will act as the focal point for site operations, logistics, infrastructure coordination and stakeholder engagement, supporting technology testing, demonstration and deployment activities across the Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC). In addition, the role will lead the development, implementation and integration of the data infrastructure and data management capabilities across the Technology Testing Hub. The postholder will work collaboratively across NZTC, industry partners, technology developers, contractors and public sector stakeholders to ensure facilities, systems, data and operational processes support NZTC's strategic ambitions and programme delivery objectives.

Key responsibilities:

Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance

β€’ Act as the primary HSE focal point for the Technology Testing Hub.

β€’ Develop, implement and maintain site HSE management systems, procedures and standards.

β€’ Ensure all site activities are undertaken safely and in compliance with applicable legislation, standards and NZTC policies.

β€’ Coordinate risk assessments, permits to work, contractor management processes and operational assurance activities.

β€’ Lead incident reporting, investigation and lessons learned activities.

β€’ Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance reviews, ensuring timely closure of actions.

β€’ Promote a positive safety culture across all site users, partners, contractors and visitors.

β€’ Support emergency response planning and business continuity arrangements.

Site Operations & Logistics

β€’ Support the day-to-day operation of the TTH facility and associated infrastructure.

β€’ Support the coordination of site access, inductions, and visitor management.

β€’ Support the development and implementation of processes that drive operational excellence, efficiency and continuous improvement.

Data Infrastructure Leadership

β€’ Lead the development and implementation of the data infrastructure roadmap supporting NZTC.

β€’ Coordinate and integrate digital systems, data platforms and operational technologies across NZTC

β€’ Act as NZTC's operational lead for the data delivery activities.

β€’ Support the development of connected data environments that enable technology testing, monitoring and performance reporting.

β€’ Lead the development of operational data governance, data quality and data management processes.

β€’ Work with internal and external stakeholders to maximise the value of digital assets, datasets and infrastructure investments.

IT Leadership

β€’ Provide strategic oversight and guidance for NZTC s IT function, ensuring technology services, systems and suppliers support business needs and organisational objectives.

β€’ Work with the IT team and external providers to shape priorities, monitor performance, manage risks and support continuous improvement across IT service delivery, cybersecurity, systems and ways of working.

β€’ Guide the development of IT plans, policies and investment recommendations, ensuring decisions are aligned with business priorities, value for money and effective governance.

Leadership & Organisational Responsibilities

β€’ Ensure all work is aligned with internal processes and policies, keeping abreast of changes and operating within agreed frameworks.

β€’ Support Net Zero Technology Centre's D&I agenda by creating an atmosphere with inclusion at the heart and where diverse thought and characteristics are encouraged.

β€’ Support active participation in NZTC STEM and outreach activities.

β€’ Undertake additional relevant tasks and projects as agreed with the line manager.

Professional skills and attributes:

β€’ Significant experience in HSE, operations, facilities, project delivery or site management roles.

β€’ Experience managing operational sites, industrial facilities or testing environments.

β€’ Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation and industry best practice.

β€’ Experience developing and implementing management systems and operational procedures.

β€’ Experience managing contractors and operational logistics.

β€’ Knowledge of industrial data systems, sensors, communications networks or operational technology infrastructure.

β€’ Proficient in Microsoft Office and associated data collaboration tools.

Qualification requirements for the role:

β€’ Degree qualification in Engineering, HSE, Operations Management, or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

β€’ NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent HSE qualification desirable.

β€’ Project management qualification (PRINCE2, Agile, APM or equivalent) desirable.

β€’ Full UK driving licence preferred.

The role may require short duration travel trips, both within the United Kingdom and internationally.
