Graduate / Assistant Town Planner – Renewable Energy & Data Centre Projects Location: Edinburgh Salary: Competitive, depending on experience Sector: Renewable Energy | Data Centres | Planning & Development Are you a motivated town planning professional looking to make your mark in the fast-growing renewable energy and data centre sectors? We’re seeking a Graduate or Assistant Town Planner to join a forward-thinking development team working on exciting sustainable infrastructure projects across the UK. About the Role You’ll play a key role in identifying, assessing, and supporting the delivery of renewable energy and data centre development opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your planning expertise in a fast-paced commercial environment while contributing to projects that are helping shape a greener, more connected future. Key Responsibilities * Conduct front-end planning reviews of potential development sites, providing detailed, high-quality assessments for internal teams and investors. * Carry out preliminary site assessments to evaluate suitability for development projects. * Monitor local and national planning policy to identify new business opportunities and inform project strategy. * Provide desk-based studies, baseline data collection, and policy interpretation within agreed deadlines. * Support public consultations and stakeholder engagement activities. * Offer administrative and technical support to the Planning Manager. * Maintain accurate project documentation, including plans, permits, and correspondence. What We’re Looking For * Degree-level education in Town Planning or a related discipline, ideally accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). * RTPI Licentiate membership (or working towards it), with a desire to progress to full Chartered status. * Strong analytical, research, and written communication skills. * An interest in renewable energy, sustainability, and infrastructure development. * A proactive, detail-oriented approach and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
