An international consultancy and project management group supporting major clients across energy, infrastructure, construction and the built environment. This role sits within the company’s energy infrastructure team, supporting grid connections and power infrastructure for major client projects.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Graduate / Assistant Grid Connections Manager to support the delivery of electrical grid connections across energy infrastructure projects. The role would suit someone with early experience in grid connections, EV charging, utilities, renewables, electrical infrastructure, DNOs, IDNOs or ICPs. You will support connection applications, review offers and costs, liaise with network operators and help ensure grid connections are delivered in line with project and commercial requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support grid connection applications and track progress with DNOs, IDNOs, ICPs and National Grid
- Review connection offers, quotations, asset values, costs and technical requirements
- Assess capacity, constraints, reinforcement needs, cable routes and power options
- Maintain power registers, trackers, deadlines, risks and connection records
- Review Points of Connection, site power loads and G99 / G100 / G17 requirements
- Support compliance with UK grid codes, industry standards and regulations
- Assess connection costs, CAPEX implications and contestable / non-contestable works
- Support ICP / IDNO procurement and tender evaluations
- Monitor delivery from design through to energisation
- Provide updates to project, engineering, planning, finance and leadership teams
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Some understanding of UK electricity networks and grid connection processes
- Exposure to grid connections, EV charging, renewables, utilities or infrastructure
- Ability to interpret technical information, drawings, capacity data and connection offers
- Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to review costs and options
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Desirable
- Electrical engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification
- Experience with DNOs, IDNOs, ICPs or utility providers
- Knowledge of LV / HV network design principles
- Familiarity with G99, G100, G17, Ofgem regulations or wayleaves
- Working towards IEng / CEng status
