Why this role
If you are ready to step out of a reactive site role and into a position where your judgement genuinely shapes delivery, this could be the move that changes your next few years. This is a role for someone who knows commercial solar, understands electrical compliance, and wants the autonomy to take ownership of projects across the UK.
You will be the person who brings order, confidence and technical credibility to live sites. Instead of being one voice in a large team, you will become a key part of a growing renewable energy division where your input will directly influence quality, standards and future growth. For the right person, this is a chance to help build something, not just maintain it.
What you'll do
You will act as the technical and on-site lead across commercial solar PV and related electrical works, supporting projects from pre-start through to quality checks, issue resolution and certification. Working closely with an internal project delivery lead, you will liaise with subcontract installers, visit live sites, carry out inspections, and make sure work is completed safely, correctly and to the expected standard.
This is a national role with regular travel and occasional staying away. A typical pattern will involve around three days on the road and two working from home, with the freedom to manage your own diary and workload like a trusted professional.
About the company
You will be joining a fast-growing solar and decarbonisation team within a long-established international business known for lighting, energy efficiency and sustainable solutions. The wider group has more than 120 years of expertise, operates in over 50 countries, and supports customers through design, project delivery, installation and aftercare.
What makes this opportunity stand out is the growth story. The solar division is scaling quickly, backed by the strength and stability of a much bigger organisation, with a clear focus on innovation, sustainability and practical delivery. The culture is performance-led, supportive and built around recognising contribution rather than seniority.
About you
You will be a qualified electrician with strong commercial solar experience and the confidence to challenge poor practice when needed. Previous QS experience is required, and you should be comfortable working with subcontract labour, managing stakeholders and making sound technical decisions on site. You will combine backbone with diplomacy, and technical knowledge with a calm, solutions-focused approach.
Rewards & growth
Alongside a competitive salary, bonus and electric van, this role offers the chance to grow with a business that expects its solar operation to expand significantly. As the team grows, there is real scope to shape standards, support new hires and develop into a broader leadership role.
