Location: Sussex, Kent & Surrey

Why this role

You’ve spent years on the tools, solving problems that others only see on drawings. Now you’re ready to use that experience in a role where your technical judgement shapes every project before the first panel is installed. This is a brilliant opportunity for a hands-on solar PV professional to step into a more office and field-based Technical Manager role, leading surveys, planning installations and making sure residential solar PV, battery storage, backup systems and EV charging projects are safe, compliant and commercially sound from day one.

What you’ll do

You’ll carry out detailed site surveys across Sussex, Kent and Surrey, assessing roof suitability, access, cable routes, inverter and battery locations, shading, orientation, comms, Wi-Fi and any installation risks. You’ll validate what has been sold, check quotations against site realities, identify variations and make sure every project is technically ready for installation. Your work will directly support sales, procurement, finance and the Installation Manager, giving the wider team clear, accurate information they can rely on.

About the company

You’ll be joining a fast-growing renewable energy business delivering smart energy solutions across residential, commercial and industrial markets. The company specialises in solar PV, battery storage, backup power and EV charging, with a strong focus on quality, safety and long-term customer value. This is an environment where practical experience is respected, ideas are welcomed and the right person can help improve how projects are surveyed, planned and delivered.

About you

You’ll be an electrically qualified solar PV professional with strong domestic installation experience and the credibility to make sound technical decisions. You’ll ideally hold 2391 Inspection and Testing and G39 certification, with at least three years’ experience across solar PV, battery storage, EV charging or similar electrical installations. You’ll understand BS 7671, DNO requirements, structural considerations, wind load implications and MCS standards. Experience with products such as Tesla, Sigenergy, Dyness, Fox, Atlas, Eaton or Solis would be useful, but your attitude, organisation and technical sharpness matter most.

Rewards & growth

The role offers a salary of £45,000–£55,000 depending on experience, a company vehicle, pension, discretionary annual bonus and 22 days’ holiday, increasing by one day per year of service up to 25 days. You’ll be based from the East Sussex office when not on site, with practical flexibility around surveys and project needs. For someone ready to move from installation into technical leadership, this is a genuine progression opportunity.
