Why this role

Hydrogen is changing the future of engineering, energy and materials performance. From fuel cells and compressed hydrogen systems to hydrogen embrittlement and cryogenic testing, customers need reliable data before new technologies can be trusted in the real world. This is your chance to sell the high-value testing equipment behind that progress. You will represent a global leader in materials testing technology, working with customers across hydrogen, aerospace, defence, medical, academia, packaging, manufacturing, food and beverage, and life sciences. This is not a cold-start territory. Across the South of the UK, there are existing customers, live projects, modernisation opportunities and inbound leads. Your role is to build on that platform, deepen relationships and create new technical CapEx sales opportunities.

About the company

The business designs and supplies advanced materials and component testing systems used in research, development and quality assurance. Its technology helps customers understand how materials behave under pressure, load, fatigue, temperature and demanding operating conditions. Hydrogen sits at the heart of its future-facing market story. The company supports customers working on hydrogen storage, transport, fuel cell development and material safety, giving you a strong, credible proposition when speaking with engineers, R&D teams, universities and technical decision-makers.

What you’ll do

You will manage a South UK territory covering South Wales, the South West, London access, the South East and surrounding postcodes. Bristol, Bath, Swindon, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Reading, Slough, Oxford and the wider M4/M5 corridor would all work well as a base. You will sell technical CapEx equipment with typical order values of £40,000–£80,000, managing sales cycles from 10 weeks to several years. Your role will include site visits, technical discussions, demonstrations, quotations, pipeline management and follow-up with existing accounts and new prospects.

About you

You are likely to be a Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Area Sales Manager or Business Development Manager with experience selling machinery, automation, laboratory equipment, testing systems, packaging machinery, machine tools, inspection systems or other technical CapEx equipment. You will also bring a practical understanding of mechanical engineering. That could come from an engineering apprenticeship, HNC, HND, technician background, mechanical engineering role, or hands-on experience selling mechanically driven systems. You do not need to be a materials testing specialist, but you must be technically curious and confident discussing customer requirements with engineers, R&D, manufacturing and quality teams.

Rewards & growth

You will receive a £40,000–£45,000 basic salary, uncapped earning potential, realistic OTE of £65,000–£67,000, company car or allowance, laptop, mobile, Health Shield cash plan, mental health support line, 5% employer pension contribution and 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.

How to apply

If you want to sell high-value technical equipment into hydrogen, aerospace, defence, medical, academia and advanced manufacturing markets, this is a strong next step.
