JOB PURPOSE
The Site Manager will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of installation projects delivered under green energy and grant‑funded programmes.
The role ensures work is completed safely, on time, to specification, and in compliance with scheme, quality, and health & safety requirements.
This role is key to maintaining high standards across installations, managing operatives and subcontractors, and acting as the main on‑site point of contact for clients, assessors, and auditors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- SITE & PROJECT MANAGEMENT
- Manage multiple installation sites, ensuring all works are delivered in line with programme requirements, specifications, and agreed schedules.
- Oversee day‑to‑day site operations, including labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors.
- Manage multiple geographically dispersed installation sites simultaneously, ensuring effective coordination of resources, operatives, and programme delivery.
- Plan and coordinate logistics, deliveries, and material allocation across multiple active projects to minimise delays and maintain productivity.
- Monitor site progress remotely and in person, maintaining effective communication with teams working across various locations.
- Ensure works meet required quality standards and pass inspections and audits.
- HEALTH, SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
- Take full responsibility for site health and safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures.
- Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and regular safety inspections.
- Ensure risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), permits, and site paperwork are complete and up to date.
- Act immediately to resolve any health & safety or compliance issues.
- TEAM & SUBCONTRACTOR MANAGEMENT
- Supervise, motivate, and coordinate operatives and subcontractors on site.
- Monitor performance and workmanship, addressing issues promptly.
- Ensure operatives hold the correct qualifications, training, and accreditation for their tasks.
- QUALITY CONTROL
- Carry out regular quality checks throughout the installation process.
- Ensure all works comply with scheme standards (e. g. PAS 2030/2035 where applicable).
- Rectify defects and manage snagging through to completion.
- CLIENT & STAKEHOLDER LIAISON
- Act as the main point of contact on site for customers, assessors, surveyors, and auditors.
- Provide clear communication on progress, issues, and solutions.
- Represent Green Grant Installations professionally at all times.
- REPORTING & ADMINISTRATION
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, progress reports, photos, and completion documentation.
- Report progress, risks, and issues to the Contracts or Operations Manager.
- Support handover and sign‑off processes at project completion.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
- Proven experience as a Site Manager or Supervisor within construction, retrofit, or building services.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and site compliance.
- Experience managing operatives and subcontractors.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, building methods, and installation processes, with the ability to assess quality, suitability, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing mobile or geographically dispersed workforces across multiple concurrent projects.
- Understanding of material procurement, storage, handling, and logistics within construction or retrofit environments.
- Ability to read and work from drawings, specifications, and programme requirements.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Confident using basic IT systems for reporting and documentation.
- Full UK driving licence.
DESIRABLE
- Experience working on grant‑funded or energy‑efficiency projects.
- Knowledge of retrofit standards and installer requirements.
- Experience dealing with audits, inspections, and quality assurance checks.
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
