The Role: An established environmental services employer is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join its operational team based in South Wimbledon. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous grounds maintenance experience who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and is looking to develop a long-term career within the sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on equipment
- Hedge cutting and shrub maintenance
- Weed control and vegetation management
- Tree maintenance and pruning activities
- Flower bed maintenance and seasonal planting
- Basic landscaping duties
- Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment checks
- Maintaining high standards of site presentation
- Following all Health & Safety procedures
- Providing professional service when working on client sites
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- Previous grounds maintenance experience
- Experience carrying out grass cutting and hedge cutting duties
- Full UK driving licence
- Confidence driving vans safely and responsibly
- Ability to arrive at the South Wimbledon depot by 06:25am each working day
- Reliable and punctual approach to work
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good understanding of Health & Safety practices
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Desirable:
- Experience using a range of grounds maintenance machinery
- Landscaping experience
- PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates
- Experience working on commercial or public sector contracts
Working Pattern:
- Monday to Friday 06:30am – 3:30pm
- Daily deployment from the South Wimbledon depot
- Travel to sites across South London and North Surrey
- Return to the depot at the end of each shift for unloading and team debrief
