Role Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Electrician to join a busy property maintenance and retrofit team delivering electrical installations, repairs, testing, and maintenance across domestic and commercial properties. The role also offers the opportunity to develop skills within renewable energy and retrofit programmes, with training provided in Solar PV technologies for suitable candidates.
Important to Know
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
- AM2 Qualification
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (Current Amendment)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Proven experience within domestic and commercial electrical environments
- Experience carrying out fault-finding, inspection, testing, and maintenance works
- Ability to participate in a 7‑day rota and out-of-hours call‑out service
- Experience working within housing maintenance, planned works, or responsive repairs is highly desirable
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Installation & Maintenance
- Carry out electrical installations, repairs, maintenance, and fault‑finding works
- Install and maintain wiring systems, consumer units, containment systems, lighting, power, and control systems
- Diagnose electrical faults and complete remedial works safely and efficiently
- Deliver high‑quality workmanship in both occupied and unoccupied properties
- Inspection, Testing & Compliance
- Conduct inspection and testing in accordance with current BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
- Complete Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs)
- Produce certification and compliance documentation accurately
- Ensure all work complies with Part P Building Regulations and statutory requirements
- Renewable Energy & Retrofit Programmes
- Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Solar PV systems
- Participate in renewable energy training and development programmes
- Assist with retrofit and decarbonisation projects aligned with PAS2030/35 standards
- Customer Service
- Deliver excellent customer service while working in occupied homes and commercial premises
- Communicate effectively with tenants, residents, clients, and colleagues
- Ensure disruption is kept to a minimum while maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Health & Safety
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, safe isolation practices, and CDM requirements
- Complete risk assessments and work safely at height where required
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company policies and industry regulations
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with other trades and operational teams
- Support wider maintenance, retrofit, and capital works programmes
- Contribute to the successful delivery of projects across the property portfolio
Skills & Experience
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems and compliance standards
- Experience in fault‑finding, testing, inspection, and maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent problem‑solving and diagnostic skills
- Strong customer service and communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification (or working towards)
- Registration with NICEIC, NAPIT, ELECSA, or equivalent Competent Persons Scheme
- Experience installing or maintaining Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems
- LCL Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Small Scale Solar PV Systems
- Experience working within PAS2030/35 retrofit programmes
- Experience working at height and carrying out rooftop installations
