About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Service Engineer to provide on-site technical support for hot water cylinders and associated products across the UK.

The role focuses on inspecting installations, diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, replacing components, supporting commissioning activities, and investigating warranty claims. Products include unvented hot water cylinders, calorifiers, buffer vessels, volumisers, thermal stores, and pre-plumbed assemblies used in domestic and commercial heating systems.

Previous experience with heat pump systems would be advantageous but is not essential. Full product training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend customer, installer and construction sites throughout the UK.
  • Diagnose faults on hot water cylinders, plumbing systems, controls and associated components.
  • Carry out repairs and replace approved parts including immersion heaters, thermostats, valves, pumps and sensors.
  • Drain, refill, test and recommission systems following repair work.
  • Verify safe operation and identify installation, commissioning or system-related issues.

Commissioning & Technical Support

  • Support commissioning and testing of cylinders and pre-plumbed assemblies.
  • Check installations comply with specifications, instructions and safety requirements.
  • Inspect controls, safety devices, pipework, expansion arrangements and system performance.
  • Provide technical guidance to installers and customers.

Heat Pump & Pre-Plumbed Systems

  • Support products connected to heat pump systems.
  • Review system operation, temperatures, controls, pumps and valves.
  • Identify whether faults relate to the product, installation or wider heating system.
  • Work with installers, manufacturers and technical support teams where required.

Warranty Investigations & Reporting

  • Investigate reported faults and warranty claims.
  • Gather evidence including photographs, readings, serial numbers and installation details.
  • Produce detailed service reports for every visit.
  • Record findings accurately and provide technical feedback to support warranty decisions and product improvements.

Health & Safety

  • Complete risk assessments and work safely at all times.
  • Follow safe isolation procedures and company safety policies.
  • Use appropriate tools, test equipment and PPE.
  • Report unsafe conditions and stop work where necessary.
  • Strong practical experience installing, commissioning, servicing or repairing hot water cylinders.
  • Detailed knowledge of unvented hot water systems and associated safety components.
  • Plumbing/heating qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience diagnosing plumbing, hydraulic and mechanical faults.
  • Understanding of pumps, valves, immersion heaters, thermostats, sensors and basic electrical controls.
  • Ability to read installation instructions, plumbing schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a UK-wide workload.
  • Good written reporting skills and basic IT competence.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Experience with air source heat pumps.
  • Experience with pre-plumbed hot water systems.
  • Experience with calorifiers, commercial hot water systems, buffer vessels or volumisers.
  • Electrical fault-finding or safe isolation training.
  • Manufacturer service, warranty or technical support experience.
  • CSCS card or relevant site qualification.
  • IOSH, SSSTS or other health and safety training.

Ideal Candidate

This role would suit an experienced plumbing, heating or service engineer with a strong understanding of unvented hot water cylinders and associated controls. Heat pump experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.
