WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Establish, build and maintain relationships with core suppliers and shareholders, ensuring a strong business relationship.
  • Work with suppliers to negotiate the best cost prices, lead times, and payment terms.
  • Stock and sales analysis, producing reports to show sales and stock performance. Highlighting opportunities to drive sales.
  • Manage pricing across categories to achieve a competitive position, without compromising profitability.
  • Maximize the performance of your products by establishing a good understanding of your range, competitors, and the wider retail market.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to help maximize sales, profit, and efficient stock management.
  • Build relationships across all departments, communicating with managers and directors.
  • Constantly on the lookout for improving and bringing in the best possible products, checking reviews as well as refund reports.
  • Have good knowledge of a WSSI tool and category planning.
  • Be able to identify and propose improved working practices and updates to existing systems to assist the managers in development and training of the newer members of the merchandising team.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar fast-paced role - experience with buying or purchasing is essential.
  • Comfortable, confident, and experienced in managing overseas suppliers, typically from the Far East region.
  • Dynamic and eager to learn and develop within our company.
  • Negotiation skills and comprehensive commercial awareness, with the ability to identify trends and consider the impact on stock levels.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills - proficient in the use of Excel, as well as being confident on other Microsoft programs.
  • Able to find and extract data and develop a full understanding and awareness of business systems.
  • Ability to work proactively and reactively in a fast-paced environment, and keep calm under pressure and when completing multiple tasks.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to work in a team.
  • Self-motivated, extremely organized with a good eye for detail.
