- Establish, build and maintain relationships with core suppliers and shareholders, ensuring a strong business relationship.
- Work with suppliers to negotiate the best cost prices, lead times and payment terms.
- Stock and sales analysis - Produce reports to show stock and sales performance, highlighting opportunities to drive sales.
- Manage pricing across categories to achieve a competitive position, without compromising profitability.
- Maximize the performance of your products by establishing a good understanding of your range, competitors and the wider retail market.
- Work with internal stakeholders to help maximize sales, profit and efficient stock management.
- Build relationships across all departments, communicating and collaborating with Managers and Directors.
- Constantly on the look-out for improving and bringing in the best possible products, checking reviews as well as refund reports.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar fast-paced role - experience with buying or purchasing is essential.
- Experience supervising or providing guidance/support to more junior members of a team.
- Comfortable, confident and experienced in managing overseas suppliers, typically from the East Asia region.
- Dynamic and eager to learn and develop within our company.
- Negotiation skills and comprehensive commercial awareness, with the ability to identify trends and consider the impact on stock levels.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills - proficient in the use of Excel, as well as being confident on other Microsoft programs.
- Able to find and extract data and develop a full understanding and awareness of business systems.
- Ability to work proactively and reactively in a fast-paced environment, and keep calm under pressure when completing multiple tasks.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to work in a team.
- Self-motivated, extremely organised with a good eye for detail.
- Have good knowledge of a WSSI tool and category planning.
- Be able to identify and propose improved working practices and updates to existing systems to assist the Managers in development and training of the newer members of the Merchandising team.
