The Role:
We are recruiting a compassionate and resilient Support Worker to join a well-established children’s residential home in Mansfield. This service supports young people aged 7–17 who have experienced trauma and adversity and need a calm, consistent, nurturing environment to thrive.
As a Support Worker, you will provide steady, therapeutic care, build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult role model. While behaviours can be challenging at times, the focus is on relational, trauma-informed care rather than crisis-led intervention. This Support Worker role is ideal for individuals who value meaningful relationships, structure, and seeing young people progress emotionally and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistent, child-centred care in line with care plans
- Build safe, trusting and positive relationships with young people
- Support emotional regulation using PACE and DDP approaches
- Safeguard young people and follow all policies and procedures
- Assist with daily routines, personal care and life skills
- Support education, activities and community involvement
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with professionals
Working Pattern:
- 40 hours per week
- 1 on / 2 off shift pattern
- Day shifts with limited sleep-ins
Requirements:
- Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Child Care
- Minimum age 22 (Ofsted requirement)
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
- Full manual UK driving licence
- Good spoken and written English
- Enhanced DBS required
Previous experience in children’s residential care, youth work or similar settings is desirable but not essential for the right candidate with the right values.
