Net Talent is pleased to present an exciting opportunity for a Lead Data Engineer with our client, a prominent energy company based in Edinburgh. This organisation is renowned for its innovative approach to data, analytics, and consultancy within the energy and chemicals sectors. As they embark on a greenfield data transformation project, they seek a talented professional to spearhead their data pipeline development, leveraging advanced technologies such as Snowflake. This role offers a unique chance to shape a new data ecosystem from scratch, working in a supportive environment that values expertise, innovation, and collaboration. Ideally Central Belt Scotland, although not essential. Excellent package and bonus on offer.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and transformation processes utilizing modern tools and frameworks.
- Implement and optimise data workflows and ETL procedures within Snowflake.
- Create robust data models to support advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Establish and enforce data governance standards to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance.
- Drive data discovery processes to catalogue valuable assets across multiple business units.
- Support the deployment of machine learning models and interpret results to inform business decisions.
- Support and manage a small team of Data Engineers.
Candidate Profile
- Strong background in building enterprise data solutions.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Python and data transformation techniques.
- Must have led and developed a team of Data Engineers.
- Expertise in Snowflake cloud data platform and ETL process optimisation.
- Familiarity with machine learning tools such as TensorFlow or scikit-learn.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience managing end-to-end data projects within a fast-paced environment.
- As this role will evolve into a Head of Data, must have managed and developed a team as you will be leading and mentoring a team.
