As the business continues to strengthen its operational capability, an excellent opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Litigation Solicitor to join the team, supporting the day-to-day leadership of a busy Debt Recovery function while maintaining an active caseload.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Head of Department with the daily management of the Debt Recovery team, ensuring consistent delivery and strong results.
  • Supervising Debt Recovery Agents and Paralegals, providing guidance, oversight and direction on live matters.
  • Conducting and authorising litigation within the Debt Recovery function, ensuring matters progress efficiently and compliantly.
  • Delivering training, coaching and development to team members to improve capability and performance.
  • Holding structured monthly one-to-ones to support engagement, performance and progression.
  • Driving client conversion through strong communication, service delivery and commercial awareness.
  • Commencing and progressing matters in line with relevant Pre-Action Protocol requirements.
  • Negotiating, setting up and monitoring payment arrangements, escalating risks where necessary.
  • Carrying out residency checks and associated searches, assessing debtor circumstances and ability to pay.
  • Issuing and progressing Part 7 and Part 8 proceedings, including preparing and filing applications as required.
  • Preparing schedules, witness documentation and other court materials, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Liaising with enforcement providers, including High Court Enforcement, to support recovery outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with internal legal and operational teams to ensure joined-up service delivery and effective handovers.
  • Ensuring compliance with information security requirements, maintaining confidentiality and secure use of systems and documentation.
  • Supporting wider departmental priorities and completing ad hoc responsibilities aligned to the seniority and scope of the role.

What You Will Need To Apply:

  • 1–3 years PQE (admitted in England).
  • Strong litigation knowledge with demonstrable experience in managing contentious recovery matters.
  • Working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and relevant Pre-Action Protocols.
  • A minimum of 12 months’ hands-on debt recovery experience.
  • Proven ability to coach, develop and support others in a team environment.
  • Comfortable working to deadlines, targets and performance objectives within a fast-paced function.
  • Able to support clear communication of team priorities, commercial drivers and departmental direction.
  • Confident contributing to change and continuous improvement, with a flexible and solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making ability, capable of resolving issues through critical thinking and sound judgement.
