As part of its continued growth, the company is looking to appoint a Controls Technician to join its field-based engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled individual with experience in building controls, automation systems or HVAC technologies who enjoys working directly with customers and delivering complex projects from commissioning through to ongoing support.
Your Roles & Responsibilities:
- Commissioning, programming and configuring building management and HVAC control systems
- Setting up system graphics, communications links and control strategies in line with project requirements
- Carrying out end-to-end testing, troubleshooting and fault-finding activities on customer sites
- Validating sequences of operation and completing point-to-point verification checks
- Producing commissioning documentation and project close-out records
- Acting as the primary customer contact for assigned projects, providing technical support and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Diagnosing and resolving faults across control systems, equipment and associated HVAC infrastructure
- Utilising specialist software, diagnostic tools and engineering drawings to commission and repair systems
- Maintaining and developing technical knowledge across control systems and related technologies
- Collaborating closely with Service Desk, Sales and Operations teams to ensure effective project delivery and customer support
- Producing service reports and documentation relating to completed and invoiced work orders
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships through exceptional service delivery
- Communicating effectively with Service Managers, Field Service Engineers, Senior Technicians and customers regarding project updates and technical solutions
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and service delivery
- Ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and compliance are maintained at all times
- Taking responsibility for company-issued tools, equipment and assets, ensuring their maintenance and accountability
- Participating in an on-call rota, including standby cover, weekend working and bank holiday call-outs as required
- Travelling to customer sites across the region, including occasional overnight stays where necessary
What You Will Need to Apply:
- Previous experience within a field-based controls, automation, HVAC or building management systems environment
- Strong commissioning, fault-finding and troubleshooting expertise
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications and control strategies
- Experience working with building management systems (BMS), HVAC controls or direct digital control systems would be highly advantageous
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers while working effectively alongside internal stakeholders
- Comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities and delivering technical solutions to a high standard with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in diagnostic software and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience within manufacturing environments would be advantageous, although not essential
- Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have the right to work within the UK
- Prepared to participate in a planned call-out and standby rota
- Proactive, technically capable and customer-focused
- Passion for delivering outstanding service and supporting customers' operational requirements
