An established and industry-leading food manufacturing organisation has partnered with the team at NET Recruit to recruit a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join its Engineering team.
The organisation operates within a fast-paced manufacturing environment where engineering reliability, product quality, health and safety and continuous improvement are central to its operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take responsibility for maintaining and improving plant, equipment and processes while contributing to the ongoing efficiency and reliability of the site.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
While in this position your duties may include but may not be limited to:
- Carrying out day-to-day maintenance and improvement activities across plant, equipment, assets and site services.
- Diagnosing and repairing equipment faults promptly to minimise disruption to production.
- Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks and contributing to the development of improved maintenance practices.
- Using engineering systems and processes effectively, including computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ensuring all engineering work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant food manufacturing, quality and health and safety standards.
- Proactively identifying recurring faults and inefficient processes, implementing long-term solutions wherever possible.
- Supporting the safe design, operation and maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment.
- Working closely with Operations, Logistics, Technical, Hygiene, Health & Safety and Facilities teams to support the smooth running of the site.
- Liaising with external contractors and suppliers where required.
- Taking an active role in daily shift meetings, communicating engineering issues, sharing best practice and ensuring effective handovers between teams.
- Maintaining accurate engineering records, shift paperwork and documentation to a high standard.
- Supporting effective stock and budget control within the engineering function.
- Contributing to maintaining and improving product quality and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
- Championing health and safety within the engineering environment and helping to maintain a safe workplace for all employees.
- Responding effectively to engineering requests and prioritising maintenance activities according to operational requirements.
- Balancing immediate engineering requirements with planned maintenance and longer-term improvement activities.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues while also being confident working independently when required.
What You Will Need to Apply:
- Previous experience working in a similar engineering or maintenance position within a manufacturing environment.
- Level 3 GNVQ or equivalent degree
- Strong electrical fault-finding experience and practical electrical knowledge.
- Experience maintaining plant, production equipment and associated manufacturing assets.
- Experience within FMCG or food manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
- The ability to understand manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and quality.
- A strong analytical and problem-solving approach, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective long-term solutions.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively across different levels of an organisation.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being confident working with minimal supervision.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure, prioritise competing maintenance requirements and respond effectively to changing operational demands.
- Good numerical and commercial awareness, including an understanding of budgets and stock control.
- Good IT skills, with experience using engineering systems and CMMS platforms.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach, with a genuine interest in continuous improvement.
- A strong commitment to health and safety, quality and maintaining high engineering standards.
