Net Consulting is seeking a skilled and motivated Level 2 Infrastructure Engineer to support and maintain a wide range of enterprise technologies across hybrid environments. This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in container orchestration, network infrastructure, and enterprise monitoring and security tools.

Primarily based in Cardiff, with occasional travel to other customer locations as required. You will be responsible for supporting critical infrastructure components including Kubernetes, OpenShift, Dell servers, Cisco and Juniper networking, SAN and VDI environments, and security appliances such as Nexor data diodes and Endace packet probes.
This is a dynamic opportunity to work in a fast-paced, secure environment, contributing to the stability, performance, and security of enterprise systems. You must be eligible for UK Security Check (SC) clearance, with the potential to progress to Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
Responsibilities
* Provide Level 2 support for infrastructure platforms including:
* Kubernetes, K3s, OpenShift, Podman, Rancher
* Dell servers, Cisco firewalls, Juniper and Cisco switches
* Brocade fabric switches, SAN storage, VMware
* SolarWinds, Endace packet probes, Gigamon, Nexor data diodes
* VDI environments
* ESXi and KVM Hypervisors
* Windows Server OS
* RedHat Enterprise Linux OS
* Monitor and maintain system performance, availability, and security
* Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, escalating to Level 3 support teams when necessary
* Liaise with Level 3 engineers to ensure timely resolution of complex issues and to support root cause analysis
* Document escalation paths and maintain clear communication channels between support tiers
* Support patching, upgrades, and configuration changes across infrastructure
* Collaborate with engineering and security teams to implement best practices
* Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures
* Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical incidents
* Contribute to infrastructure automation and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Proven experience in a Level 2 infrastructure or systems support role
* Hands-on experience with some of the following:
* Container platforms: Kubernetes, OpenShift, K3s, Podman, Rancher
* Networking: Cisco firewalls/switches, Juniper switches, Brocade fabrics
* Storage & Virtualisation: SAN, VMware ESXi, VDI
* Monitoring & Security: SolarWinds, Endace, Gigamon, Nexor
* Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Familiarity with Linux and Windows server environments
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a secure environment
Effective communication skills for liaising with Level 3 support and other stakeholders
Eligible for UK SC/DV clearance
Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
Experience with infrastructure automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
Scripting skills (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python)
KVM Hypervisor experience
Exposure to ITIL-based service management
Familiarity with secure environments and MOD standards
