It’s an exciting time of growth for Nest and the Pension sector. We’re looking for a Senior Data Planner to join us. You will understand how external data can be used to enhance our internal data quality. You will support our enterprise‑wide strategic goals around making quality data‑driven decisions. It is not a ‘database management’ role, but will specifically lead the planning, negotiating and procurement of external data solutions as part of data enhancement processes that feed into our databases. The role would involve supporting the design and set‑up of ways of working for new data initiatives. This is a technical and specialist role where previous experience in working with external data suppliers to procure data is essential. You will be responsible for using external data to improve our internal Member and B2B data quality. You will work with key service provider partners. This work will be essential to ensure appropriate data quality which supports the delivery of our overall business strategy.
Can you work with a range of teams to identify how business and operational processes can be improved by using external data? Do you have experience of planning and sourcing from the data‑market? Great attention to detail? Skilled with managing data supplier relationships? If yes, we want to hear from you.
The role will focus on how we work with external data to:
- Identify and reduce duplicate records.
- Validate and improve the contactability of our Member and B2B data.
- Work with data and marketing teams to make sure solutions are fit for purpose.
- Append and enhance our customer data with variables we do not currently collect/hold in order to successfully achieve our ambitions.
The minimum criteria for this role are:
- Experience identifying data opportunities that use external data, including:
- Proven ability to translate business needs into data and database solutions.
- Has defined data‑related problems and proposed effective solutions.
- Experience of best practices when sourcing and onboarding new external data sources, working within legal and compliant boundaries.
- Experience of writing compelling business cases for substantial investments in data management initiatives.
Experience designing or establishing data processes, including:
- Experience of working as a senior data professional, that has influenced the development of data management practices and processes.
- Experience of collaborating across different departments to produce solutions fit for business goals.
- Excellent stakeholder relationship management and coordination at all levels, including operational teams, internally and externally, within a complex organisation.
- Can visualise recommendations that may include complex or challenging messages.
- An understanding of how databases are set up and operate (you will not be required to build or manage databases, but an understanding will help with your data procurements and setting‑up of data processes).
Pension or financial experience is not essential, but the ability to understand and learn about the product and the policy environment that drives Nest’s data is important.
Knowledge of the third‑party Data Market to run data procurement processes, including:
- In‑depth knowledge of the Consumer and B2B data‑buying market.
- Experience of data procurement for a mid to large organisation, having followed fair and structured procurement process.
- Data buying/negotiation experience to ensure Nest sources data cost effectively.
Don’t worry if you think you don’t have all the key skills, it might be worth taking the few minutes to apply as we’re good at spotting potential and offer a generous training budget.
Flexible and agile working: Everyone’s personal situation is different. To make the most out of hybrid working, we’ve introduced different ways of working, which include (subject to role requirements): hybrid of office (Canary Wharf, London) and home working (there will be an expectation to attend the office, once - twice a week, or more, as required).
