We are recruiting for a multi‑skilled Shift Engineer to join our reliability maintenance engineering team at Nestlé Purina, Sudbury. Manufacturing at Nestlé focuses on delivering perfect quality products to consumers at the right time and place while minimizing losses to maximize efficiency and productivity. Responsibilities:
- Machine Maintenance: Maintain the basic condition of the machines within your line and perform improvement activities, as well as repairing breakdowns.
- Safety Culture: Drive a safe culture and eliminate safety risks within the workplace.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products are manufactured according to quality standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous excellence and improvements in key operational business processes throughout manufacturing.
- Collaboration: As a key member of the Maintenance Working Groups (MWG), collaborate with the Autonomous Working Groups (AWG‑production teams) to drive improvements using tools such as inspections, abnormalities identification, centre‑lining, breakdown analysis, and preventive and predictive maintenance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Engineering Qualification: Educated to apprenticeship level NVQ 3 or hold a recognised engineering qualification in both mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Continuous Improvement: A passion for continuous improvement and the ability to implement enhancements in processes.
- Preventative Maintenance: Knowledge of planned preventative asset maintenance practices.
- Problem‑Solving Skills: Familiarity with root cause analysis tools and problem‑solving methodologies.
- Lean Manufacturing: Understanding of lean manufacturing tools, including Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Mechanical Comprehension: Proven mechanical comprehension and awareness of food safety and food handling standards.
- Hygiene and Safety Compliance: Ability to understand and adhere to strict hygiene rules and safety compliance standards.
