We are looking for a Senior Commercial Finance Analyst to join our finance team. You love digging for answers through detailed analysis and summarising your findings to work with stakeholders on key decision-making.
Changing the world of pet food for good
We’re Tails.com, a dog food subscription company with a big difference. We create truly tailored food for each and every dog we serve. We start by asking people a few simple questions about their dog. Then we use that information to create their dog’s unique Tails.com recipe – so their dog gets exactly the nutrition they need, in the taste they love, delivered to their door every month. It’s clever stuff.
We’ve got bold plans. Having created an entirely new category in pet food, we’re now scaling fast in the UK and Europe – backed by Purina, one of the world’s largest pet food companies. You’ll join a bunch of smart people working towards the same goals – and a bunch of smart-ish dogs, all working on their own thing.
Together, we’ll change the world of pet food for good.
Our Finance team
Join the finance team at Tails.com and you’ll help everyone here make better decisions. We listen. We ask questions. We find new ways and build new tools to help people understand what’s going on, measure what impact they have, and predict what might happen next.
We’re connected to every team in Tails.com, joining dots across the business. We don’t write reports that sit in drawers. In a company that changes as fast as we do, the work you do in the morning can be in the hands of customers by the afternoon.
We’re creative with problems. We’re nerdy with data. And we’re good with people.
Sound like a team you want to join? Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
The role
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, you will be a business partner for our commercial teams, improving our customer lifecycle subscription metrics. With an eye for detail coupled with a comprehensive understanding of the bigger picture, you will provide insight into how our customers are behaving, analysing the performance of key subscription metrics in each market to deliver our growth aspirations.
As part of a small, close-knit team (4 in Commercial Finance), the role has scope to work across areas and a variety of teams, suited to someone who enjoys a dynamic and collaborative work environment.
The things you’ll do
- Business partnering with our commercial teams to make optimal investment decisions across multimillion £ budgets. Together understanding drivers of change and potential opportunities and risks.
- Analysing and modelling scenarios that lead to growth in our LTV/CPA metrics, including key initiatives in our strategy into action roadmap.
- Challenging stakeholders to ensure we have clear and robust forecasts, scrutinising trends and forward-looking assumptions, using our data tools including econometric models.
- Reporting responsibilities including ownership of inputs into our forecast model and working with the finance team to support accurate reporting of our actuals and balance sheet management.
The skills you’ll bring
- Numerate with an analytical / logical mindset. Ability to use data and numbers to tell a story.
- Great communicator and strong collaboration skills – ability to deliver strong, clear guidance and provide context to different team members and have a healthy debate.
- Attention to detail – the ability to catch mistakes and inconsistencies in both the work you produce and the data you analyse.
- Tenacious and curious – you’ll be naturally inquisitive, proactively seeking to understand and learn.
- Proven finance experience – forecasting, modelling, P&L management, analysis and strategic decision-making (e.g. part-qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA, finance degree).
What’s in it for you
- Competitive salary, reviewed annually.
- Annual bonus, based on company performance.
- Flexible core hours, giving you true work-life balance.
- Hybrid role to ensure this role works for you.
