Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our team at Nestlé UK&I, Tutbury Factory. The Project Engineer will manage the design, installation, commissioning, and commissioning of capital investment projects on site, and support the start‑up lead with the start‑up phase of the project within the defined scope of responsibility or specialisation. They will ensure that the objectives of the investment project charter, design specifications, Nestlé standards & international standards are implemented and adhered to.
Day in the life of a Project Engineer
The day is dynamic depending on the status of the project. At the concept stage you will engage with stakeholders, suppliers and technical support to agree a design that satisfies the technical, quality and safety standards of the business, and prepare business case studies to present to the business for CAPEX funding. At the installation stage you will coordinate the daily and upcoming activities, manage contractors and suppliers, permit work daily, visit the site and ensure site safety and install quality, while communicating progress, budget and timelines back to stakeholders.
What Will Make You Successful
- Experience working in a FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing Capex projects is essential.
- Degree educated in a mechanical, electromechanical, electrical or civil engineering field and/or completion of a recognised apprenticeship.
- Technical knowledge and practical experience working within Health & Safety legislation (PUWER CDM etc.).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with others, e.g., Safety Health & Environment, Production, Maintenance, QA, Contractors etc.
- Leadership skills, ability to lead meetings, delegate tasks to other members of the project team.
- A self‑starter with initiative to research topics and work out solutions with minimal supervision.
- Financial management skills: reviewing, controlling and forecasting spend, and working closely with the purchasing department to tender for and purchase new equipment.
- Commitment to a strong work ethic, integrity, honesty, safety, compliance and quality.
- Work to a high standard with a strong attention to detail.
