Position Summary
We are currently looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team on a Mission in Gatwick office for 12 months starting from around June/July 2025. Depending on the circumstances this role could potentially be done virtually. Reporting directly to the General Counsel & Head of Legal Services for Nestlé UK & Ireland, you will work as a true strategic partner supporting some of our fantastic global businesses from a legal perspective. This role will give you the opportunity to really flex both your commercial and leadership skills by providing guidance to the Business Units you support, ensuring the best-in-class legal service is achieved.
A day in the life of a Legal Counsel
You will act as a business partner for and sit on the UK&I leadership team of one or more of our Business Units. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the implementation of our legal strategy whilst providing tactical support that ensures the Business Unit(s) you support can achieve their objectives. You will be involved in liaising with a range of key internal and external stakeholders where building trusted, long-term relationships is fundamental to our teams success.
In addition to this you will provide proactive, solution oriented, strategic advice on a wide range of non-contentious issues including:
- IP and brand portfolio
- Competition law
- Contracts
- Data protection
- Employment
- General commercial law
- Media and advertising
- Regulatory/compliance
What will make you successful?
To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified lawyer with, ideally, at least 3-5 years Post Qualification Experience (PQE). English or common law experience is NOT a pre-requisite. You will have a background in either intellectual property, competition, data protection, and or general commercial law, although we will consider other experience.
You will also have:
- Great commercial acumen together with a practical and pragmatic approach and a thorough understanding of the competitive arena in which we operate.
- Ability to work independently and proactively and be motivated to succeed in everything you do.
- The right approach and experience to really support our ambition of being a world class legal function.
