Position Summary
Are you a Fabricator/Welder looking for an exciting new role within a highly respected company, offering an excellent work life balance? We have identified the need for an in-house Fabricator/Welder to carry out essential maintenance and improvement work at our Dalston Factory. Nestlé Dalston Factory in Cumbria is the European Centre for cappuccino and creamers producing a range of beverage products. These are produced through a highly automated PLC controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines. It is continually developing and expanding leading brands such as Nescafé, Aero Hot Chocolate and Coffeemate. Manufacturing in Nestlé is all about ensuring the consumer receives a perfect quality product, at the right time and place whilst driving losses from our business to maximise efficiency & productivity.
A day in the life of a Fabricator/Welder
You will be working to drive improvements in the performance of machinery and assets, reporting to the Asset Maintenance Managers daily. The factory is moving forward with continuous improvement principles and actively developing TPM processes so it’s an exciting time to be involved, and it is expected that you will play a key part in this. You will be carrying out essential maintenance to a wide variety of equipment from process plant to Packaging machinery. Responding to breakdowns within the plant, maximising production output and ensuring the smooth flow of the operation. Carrying out planned work in Maintenance intervals co‑ordinated by yourself and the maintenance planner. Purchase of workshop materials and management of workshop tasks. Maintain high levels of workshop cleanliness.
What Will Make You Successful
- You will have strong engineering ability along with initiative and attention to detail.
- Experience of modern manufacturing techniques such as 5S, LEAN and TPM would also be ideal.
- Be educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in fabrication or a time‑served apprenticeship.
- Be able to demonstrate skills in Tig welding and Fabrication.
- Be able to read Engineering drawings.
- Be able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency whilst never compromising safety or product quality.
