We are delighted to announce an opportunity for an Industrial Service Shift Engineer to join our Nestlé Purina team in Wisbech. This is a pivotal role which will support in the safe and efficient operation of all site utilities, ensuring compliance with safety and legal standards. This factory is in its prime with heavy capital investment.
Your Impact:
The Industrial Service Shift Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal cost, efficiency, quality, and sustainability of utility generation and distribution within a factory setting. This role encompasses the management of critical resources such as steam, refrigeration, water, effluent treatment, hygienic air handling, and compressed air. Within the role there will be a requirement to work from heights. Our Industrial Service Shift Engineers play a vital role in enhancing operational performance while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define and Adhere to Standards: Plan, perform, and manage the design, modification, and improvement of industrial services, equipment, and infrastructure, utilising personal expertise or collaborating with competent third parties.
- Manage Existing Assets: Support the operation of industrial services to ensure high efficiency, quality, and compliance. This includes assisting in budgeting and cost monitoring, as well as identifying and implementing energy and water-saving opportunities.
- Compliance Management: Oversee quality, environmental, and compliance requirements for industrial services through systematic management and monitoring processes. Providing support with insurance inspections.
- Safety Assurance: Ensure process and personnel safety concerning industrial services plant and equipment, from design and installation through to routine and periodic safety inspections and audits.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Foster key relationships within the Nestlé Group, including factory engineering and production teams, as well as external relationships with technical suppliers and local community authorities (e.g., emergency services, water, electricity providers).
Your ingredients for success:
To be successful as an Industrial Services Engineer, you will need a foundation of experience in either mechanical or electrical engineering, along with a commitment to safety and quality. Other attributes include:
- Educational & Training Background: Educated to apprenticeship level NVQ 3 or hold a recognised engineering qualification in either mechanical or electrical engineering. BOAS qualification is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
- Industrial Services Engineering Knowledge: Proven knowledge of at least one Industrial Services engineering discipline, preferably within the food-related manufacturing sector.
- Operating Experience with Pressure Systems: Proven experience in operating or supervising others who operate fired pressure systems (boilers) or other large combustion systems.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of local regulatory and statutory requirements relating to industrial services and environmental compliance.
- Asset Maintenance Understanding: Basic knowledge of asset maintenance practices.
- AMM System Knowledge: Good knowledge of the Asset Maintenance Management (AMM) system, specifically the SAP PM module.
- TPM Methodology Knowledge: Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodology is preferred.
