Scope

Provide hands‑on facilities support across the site, completing small tasks to maintain a safe, clean and well‑presented workplace. The role covers minor repairs and basic maintenance, grounds management, 5S/housekeeping support, and coordination of small works with contractors as needed.

Role Purpose

The Facilities Associate supports day‑to‑day site upkeep by completing practical, hands‑on tasks that keep facilities safe, compliant and in good working order. Reporting to the Industrial Engineer, the role responds to minor defects and requests, completes planned small works, supports grounds management and housekeeping standards, and helps coordinate external contractors for specialist tasks. The Facilities Associate takes pride in delivering a tidy, safe environment and provides friendly, timely support to internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grounds management: Maintain external areas (litter picking, basic landscaping/weed control within capability, tidiness of paths and car parks, signage visibility) and report any hazards promptly.
  • Minor repairs: Plan and complete tasks; raise/close work requests in agreed systems and keep requesters updated.
  • Safety first: Follow site safety rules, complete risk assessments for tasks, use correct PPE, and apply safe systems of work (including isolation/LOTO where trained and authorised).
  • Basic inspections: Report contractor issues to the Industrial Engineer.
  • Moves and small installations: Assist with moving furniture/equipment, minor assembly and installation tasks, and preparing areas for projects, audits or visitors.
  • Waste: Report any issues with skips, bins or collections.

Key Measures of Success (KPIs)

  • Safety: Zero harm; safe completion of tasks; timely reporting of hazards/near misses.
  • Service: Response time to facilities requests; tasks completed within agreed timescales and to expected quality.
  • Planned checks: Fire door and eyewash checks completed to schedule; issues recorded and escalated promptly.
  • Site standards: Improvements in housekeeping/5S audit scores; defects identified and resolved.
  • Grounds: Seasonal tasks completed as planned.
  • Documentation: Accurate work request updates/close‑outs; clear escalation of issues requiring specialist support.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction: Positive feedback from internal teams on responsiveness and professionalism.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Practical experience completing general facilities, maintenance or “handyperson” tasks (workplace, industrial or commercial environment preferred).
  • Good awareness of safe working practices, including manual handling, working at height (where trained), and safe use of basic tools.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload and respond to urgent requests appropriately.
  • A tidy, methodical approach with pride in site presentation, housekeeping and 5S standards.
  • Good communication skills and a helpful, customer‑focused attitude with internal teams and contractors.
  • Basic IT skills to log and update work requests (training can be provided).
  • NVQ Level 2–3 (or equivalent experience) in a practical trade or facilities/maintenance discipline (e.g., maintenance operations, building maintenance, carpentry/joinery, plumbing, decorating).
  • Basic safety qualification/awareness training (e.g., IOSH Working Safely) desirable.
  • Training/competence for relevant tasks where required (e.g., PASMA).

The successful candidate therefore must be able to demonstrate their own right to work during the recruitment process without Sincereal sponsorship.
