We’re looking for an Asset Maintenance Manager, based at York Distribution Centre. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a broad range of technical skills. We have recently received significant investment from the business and have new cranes, new automated de‑stackers and have a whole renovation programme, which is well under way for 2026. We really do have high ambitions for our people and our department. Logistics at Nestlé is all about ensuring the consumer receives a perfect quality product, at the right time and place through asset reliability and using data to drive performance. The Asset Maintenance Manager position plays a key part of our maintenance team.
Your impact:
Reporting into the Logistics Engineering Manager, this role will manage and support the activities of the maintenance team to meet both Warehouse and Engineering demands and ensure that priority work is completed promptly whilst conforming to all Nestlé Health and Safety requirements and current legislation. You will take responsibility in developing a culture of pro‑activity where people take pride and responsibility in what they do.
The main focus of the role will be:
- Ensure the alignment of the engineering resources with Warehouse strategy
- Ensuring that Planned Maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with the scheduled maintenance plan.
- Overseeing the day‑to‑day leadership of a team of 9 engineers
- Creating a structured environment for Maintenance activities where expectations of behaviour and performance are clearly defined and regularly reviewed.
- Responsible for tracking and reporting of a defined budget for annual maintenance
- Support the implementation of Asset Maintenance and TPM‑PM to deliver Asset Intensity and maximise performance in all areas, including health and safety, quality, wastage and efficiency via measurement and analysis.
- Analysing data/reviewing breakdowns that occur on the plant and implementing proactive actions/strategies to ensure they do not reoccur.
- Promoting a safety conscious working environment where all engineering employees adopt Nestlé Safe Working and hygienic engineering practices.
- Proactively carrying out Opportunity Maintenance on equipment that is not running.

- Experience of in a people management role within an engineering environment.
- Experience working in a unionised environment
- Ideally Degree / Diploma/ HNC in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, E&A, Process, Industrial Engineering or similar)
- Have a proven ability to achieve targets, drive improvements and manage budgets.
- Be able to demonstrate understanding of factory operations: TPM/ Lean, health & safety, employment, quality and hygiene legislation.
