Job Title: Workshop Labourer
Location: York

Working pattern: Monday- Friday - 07:30am-16:15pm

Position Summary

The Workshop Labourer is responsible for providing support and assistance in the workshop and yard areas. This role involves various tasks, including moving HGV trailers, cleaning trailers, assisting with general maintenance, and conducting compliance checks.

The Workshop Labourer will work predominantly outside and collaborate with the team to ensure the smooth operation of the workshop and yard.

The role is based on our York logistics site and is operated during the hours of 07:30-16:15pm Mon-Fri.

A day in the life of a Workshop Labourer

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Moving HGV trailers around the yard pre and post washing.
  • Clean and maintain trailers for HGV transportation purposes.
  • Clean and steam trailers in preparation for MOT.
  • Assist in the general maintenance and upkeep of the yard areas, including cleaning equipment, organizing supplies, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Assist in the general maintenance and upkeep of the workshop floor.
  • Manage pallets efficiently and ensure proper control within the logistics operation.
  • Perform driving duties, including pick up and collection of parts using a sprinter van under 3.5T.
  • Conduct comprehensive compliance checks, audits, and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance within the workshop and yard environments.
  • Operate forklift trucks (FLT) for pallet handling and movement.

What will make you successful

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a workshop or logistics environment.
  • Valid and clean driver\'s license for driving duties.
  • Valid FLT license is preferred.
  • Knowledge of workshop and yard operations, including trailer maintenance and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
