Nest Embassy Gardens is our newest nursery, at 14 New Union Square, Nine Elms, SW11, for children from 6 months to 5 years. We're looking for a permanent Nursery Cook to run our kitchen and cook fresh, healthy food that our children love, Monday to Friday, with no evenings or weekends.
What you'll do
- Cook fresh breakfasts, lunches, teas and snacks from our seasonal menu, which changes each term and rotates on a four-week cycle
- Cater safely for allergies and dietary needs in our nut-free kitchen, from weaning babies to pre-schoolers
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with food safety standards, including temperature and cleaning records
- Order stock and manage deliveries within budget
- Work closely with the nursery team and parents, and occasionally help children with simple baking sessions
What we're looking for
- Experience cooking in a nursery, school, care home or other professional kitchen
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, or willingness to complete it before you start
- Confidence managing allergens and special diets
- Reliability, organisation and pride in your kitchen
- An enhanced DBS check: we'll arrange it, and you'll keep it registered on the DBS Update Service
What we offer
- £16 an hour, Monday to Friday daytime hours
- Paid training, including food hygiene and allergen awareness
- Private health insurance (after one year)
- Cycle to Work scheme and interest-free season ticket loans
- 28 days' holiday
- Company pension
- Regular team socials and wellbeing events
