Nest Insight is a public benefit research and innovation centre. We exist to find ways to support low- and moderate-income workers to be financially secure, both today and into retirement. We partner with employers, product providers, academics and policymakers to identify, invent, test and evolve practical solutions and see what works best for people in the real world. This builds the case for systems-level change.

A critical component of building that system-level change and achieving impact at scale is to make our research and insight an asset to policy-makers and regulators, in support of evidence-based policy making. You will support this work, helping to identify the key policy and regulatory questions and implications from our work, and developing more detailed thinking on policy and regulatory approaches to support adoption of effective solutions at scale.

You will also work to identify interesting policy innovations in adjacent policy areas and help us to understand how they might apply in our work, and carry out comparative analysis of financial security policy interventions in other countries to help us learn the lessons from those that could apply here.

You will be responsible for:

  • Policy development: shape the development of Nest Insight’s public policy positions across a range of financial security-related policy areas, through building an in-depth understanding of our research and innovation programme, and providing supplementary research, evidence analysis and horizon scanning, identifying key issues affecting household financial security and developing robust solutions for systemic change.
  • Consultation and inquiry responses: draft high-quality, persuasive responses to government consultations, select committee inquiries, and regulatory reviews, ensuring Nest Insight’s research is positioned to support evidence-based policy-making and regulation.
  • Stakeholder insight and engagement: support the policy and public affairs lead in building and maintaining relationships with policymakers, financial services providers, government bodies, think tanks, sector bodies and other key stakeholders to inform Nest Insight’s positions.
  • Political and policy monitoring: track key policy developments and legislative changes relevant to household financial security, assessing their implications and identifying opportunities for Nest Insight to engage.
  • Internal collaboration: work closely with colleagues across Nest Insight, including research, communications, and fundraising teams, to ensure a unified approach across policy and organisational priorities.
  • Written outputs: deliver compelling, well-evidenced policy briefings on key issues to a range of stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders, and partners.
  • Public representation: represent us at external meetings, external policy networks, working groups, events, and conferences, ensuring our position is effectively communicated and influencing policy discussions in line with our strategic objectives.
  • Events and convenings: support the delivery of compelling public and private events and round tables to shape our understanding and build influence over public policy issues affecting household financial security.
  • Support for public affairs and engagement activity: provide policy advice and support the development of policy-facing materials to support the delivery of public affairs and engagement activity by the wider communications and research teams and the Nest Insight leadership team.
  • International research and comparative analysis: produce research and analysis on policy innovations relating to financial security in other countries and systems, building Nest Insight’s understanding of those innovations and how they might apply in our work.

We are open to discussing working patterns. We welcome all internal applicants to apply for our roles, regardless of your current working pattern or hours. We will aim to accommodate your request and match your current working arrangements. Don't worry if you think you don't have all the key skills, it might be worth taking the few minutes to apply as we’re good at spotting potential and offer a generous training budget.
