Our client is seeking a Finance Business Partner to join the team on a contract basis. This is a role designed for a professional who thrives on complex financial data and operational decision-making. This will act as the primary financial advisor for project delivery teams, providing critical oversight on project accounting while ensuring technical accounting rigor.
In addition, the goal is to modernize financial insights through advanced Power BI solutions, enabling stakeholders to make data-backed decisions with speed and clarity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Business Partnering:
- Project Advisory: Serve as a dedicated finance partner to project leads, providing guidance on project margins, budget forecasting, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Decision Support: Lead regular performance reviews with operational managers to interpret financial trends, highlight budget variances, and identify opportunities for margin improvement.
- Stakeholder Education: Demystify financial performance for non-finance leaders, ensuring they understand the "why" behind the numbers.
- Technical & Project Accounting Oversight:
- Accounting Rigor: Provide expertise on complex technical accounting matters, ensuring all project-related revenue recognition and cost allocations comply with internal and external reporting standards.
- Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee financial health across the project lifecycle—from initial budget setup and cost tracking to final closeout and post-project audit.
- Process Modernization: Translate complex accounting requirements into automated workflows, reducing manual reconciliation and enhancing financial controls.
- Data-Driven Insight Delivery:
- BI Architecture: Design and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards that provide actionable visibility into project performance and variance analysis.
- Data Integrity: Ensure accuracy in reporting and data-sharing within Finance and Operations.
- Actionable Reporting: Develop intuitive visualizations that allow stakeholders to self-serve information, while you focus on providing the underlying narrative and strategic insights.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Financial Expertise: Strong grasp of US GAAP/IFRS, particularly regarding revenue recognition, project cost accounting, and technical ledger analysis.
- Business Acumen: Ability to translate abstract financial data into actionable narratives that influence operational strategy.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert-level capability in Power BI and advanced Excel. Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) is essential.
- Collaborative Mindset: A proactive communicator who can build trust with cross-functional partners and effectively navigate complex organizational environments.
