Our client, a specialist provider of equipment and technology to the global oil and gas market, is looking to hire a Planner for an initial 1-year contract with a view to transitioning the successful candidate to a permanent position after the initial contract period.
We are ideally looking for a candidate with at least 1 year experience in a similar role with prior experience working on subsea oil and gas projects.
Summary:
The Engineering Planner for SPS Projects and Services will be responsible for developing and managing detailed engineering schedules, coordinating scope activities, resource planning of engineering groups and ensuring the successful delivery of scopes within budget and on time. This role requires strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams with diverse cultural backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule Development and Management: Create, maintain, and update detailed engineering schedules for SPS projects and services. Integrate schedules with overall scope timelines and client requirements. Analyse, monitor and report on schedule progress, identifying and addressing potential delays or issues.
- Planning and Communication: Coordinate engineering activities with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders. Facilitate regular meetings to review schedule status, progress, and upcoming tasks. Communicate schedule updates and changes to all relevant parties. Assign engineers to quote and execution. Chair regular engineering progress meetings.
- Resource Planning: Allocate engineering resources effectively to meet project demands. Collaborate with resource managers to ensure the availability of required skills and personnel. Provide resource capacity charts for the engineering group. Optimize resource utilization to balance workloads and maximize efficiency.
- Risk Management: Identify potential schedule risks and develop mitigation strategies and scenario plans. Monitor and track risk factors, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present regular schedule reports and performance metrics. Maintain accurate and up-to-date schedules and reports. Maintain accurate service dates and planner group in SAP (System Application Product). Execute the Technically Complete (TECO) process and communicate to stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements. Implement best practices and lessons learned to enhance scope delivery efficiency.
Qualification / Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject or industry-based experience preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in planning and scheduling within the oil and gas industry, preferably in subsea production systems (SPS) or related services. Proven record of accomplishment of managing complex engineering schedules and delivering projects on time. Experience working with multicultural teams and understanding of cultural sensitivities.
- Skills and Competencies: Proficient in Primavera P6. Proficient in SAP. Strong understanding of engineering principles and project management methodologies. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, multicultural team environment. Cultural awareness and the ability to build strong, respectful working relationships across diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Primavera.
- Experience with subsea production systems and related technologies.
