We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with proven experience in Primary substation design to support ongoing transmission and distribution projects. The role involves delivering high‑quality technical designs, ensuring compliance with UK standards, and contributing to project milestones within a fast‑paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed designs for primary substation systems
- Develop equipment specifications, cable calculations, earthing designs, and interface documentation
- Ensure designs comply with DNO/TSO standards, BS/IEC regulations, and project‑specific requirements
- Support design reviews, technical assurance processes, and multidisciplinary coordination
- Provide technical input across project stages from concept through to construction support
Requirements
- Strong background in primary electrical design within transmission, distribution, or utility sectors
- HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering
- Proficiency with relevant design tools (AutoCAD, EPlan, ETAP, DigSILENT or similar)
- Understanding of protection schemes, substation layouts, and system integration
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with occasional site visits
Contract Details
- 6‑month contract with potential for extension
- Inside IR35 via Umbrella or PAYE
- Hybrid working model with expenses covered for approved travel
- Must have working Visa for the UK
