Profile: We are searching for an experienced professional to lead the Electrical Engineering Department with end-to-end responsibility for the design, procurement, construction, testing/commissioning, and operation of HV/MV substations and transmission centres (AIS & GIS up to 400 kV), as well as grid connections for PV, Wind, and BESS projects. This includes MV networks, fiber optics, protection & control systems, SLDs, layouts — ensuring safety, quality, cost efficiency, and adherence to schedule.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Key Leadership Responsibilities: Coordinate and monitor the progress of all electrical works (in-house and subcontractors) per project and overall program; Organize, lead, and develop the company’s Electrical Engineering team (office & site); Define KPIs for safety, quality, cost, and schedule; develop and update master schedules.
  • Technical Responsibilities: Primary and secondary design of HV/MV substations; Preparation and review of SLDs, layouts, and protection & control schemes; Technical documentation, as-built drawings, and methodologies; Liaison with ADMIE, DEDDIE, EPC contractors, consultants, and clients for technical approvals.
  • Procurement Responsibilities: Preparation of technical specifications and RFQs; Technical and commercial evaluation of offers; preparation of comparison tables; Verification of pricing against compliance and scope; Value engineering, identification of deviations, and cost optimization; Negotiations and clarifications with suppliers; documentation review (including FAT).
  • Tendering & Proposals Responsibilities: Analysis of tender documents, technical specifications, and contractual terms for HV/MV and renewable energy projects; Preparation of comprehensive technical proposals for substations, transmission centres, and grid connection projects (PV, Wind, BESS); Definition of technical solutions, SLDs, and conceptual layouts at proposal stage; Cost estimation (costing) for electrical works and preparation of budgets; Collection and evaluation of quotations from suppliers and subcontractors; Preparation of commercial offers in collaboration with Finance/Commercial Department; Preparation of BOQs, comparison tables, and supporting documentation; Identification of technical and commercial risks (risk assessment) and mitigation proposals; Value engineering proposals to enhance competitiveness and cost efficiency; Participation in clarification meetings with clients (clarifications/negotiations); Support during negotiation and contract finalization stage; Ensuring compliance with proposals with regulations (ADMIE, DEDDIE, IEC, EN, etc.); Cross-functional collaboration (engineering, procurement, project management) for the delivery of reliable and competitive proposals.
  • Site / Field Responsibilities: Supervision of HV/MV installations (busbars, power transformers, protection & control panels); Coordination of subcontractors and site teams, ensuring HSE and quality compliance; Participation in testing, commissioning, and energization; Review of drawings, methodologies, and as-built documentation; Supervision of MV networks and fiber optics installation, terminations, and connections; Supervision of power transformer assembly and primary equipment installation; Execution of MV cable testing.
  • Operations, Maintenance & Safety: Inspections in wind farms and substations for operation, faults, control cabins, and turbine markings; Monitoring, recording, and reporting of preventive, corrective, and scheduled maintenance; Review of maintenance and project reports; Ensuring isolation/lockout of installations, proper use of PPE, and adherence to safety measures prior to any work; Execution/approval of switching operations in LV/MV/HV equipment.
  • Compliance & Collaboration: Delivery of services accurately and on time in compliance with laws, standards, and engineering best practices; Adherence to project deadlines and schedules; Review of studies/designs (internal or external) and timely identification of required corrections or additions; Proposal for optimal techno-economic solutions; Provision of clarifications, corrections, or amendments when required; Collaboration with all disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.

Ideal Background:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 20+ years of experience in HV/MV substations and transmission centres (110–400 kV), AIS and/or GIS
  • Direct involvement in grid connection projects for PV, Wind, or BESS
  • Proven experience in procurement (technical & commercial) and EPC/site environments
  • Strong knowledge of HSE standards, regulations, and Greek legislation
  • Very good command of English
  • Strong leadership skills, stakeholder management, and willingness to travel across Greece

Desirable:

  • Experience in FAT/SAT testing, relay settings, and SCADA/telecom interoperability
  • HSE or Project Management certifications (e.g., PMP, PM2)
  • Experience in value engineering and cost control
