About the Company
Our client is a global specialist in advanced materials and industrial engineering solutions, supporting customers across sectors including energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, process industries, transportation and electronics. The Teesside operation is a key manufacturing site supporting UK and European customers, with particular expertise in graphite-based products and specialist anticorrosion equipment.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to join the team, covering customers across the UK and Ireland. The role will involve regular customer visits, with approximately three days per week spent with customers and two days working remotely or from the Teesside office on preparation, quotations and follow-up activity. You will promote specialist anticorrosion equipment and associated after-sales services, developing relationships with existing customers while identifying and securing new business opportunities. You will also work closely with internal production and engineering teams across the UK and Europe to develop appropriate technical solutions for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Visit customers regularly across the UK and Ireland.
- Provide technical advice and support throughout the sales process.
- Understand customer requirements and identify suitable technical solutions.
- Prepare and negotiate commercial proposals within agreed parameters.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Maintain accurate customer visit reports and sales activity within the CRM system.
- Work closely with internal engineering, production and sales teams.
- Attend regular sales meetings and reviews.
- Support the achievement of sales budgets and targets.
- Travel regularly to Ireland, with occasional European travel to France and Germany.
About You
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Technical Sales Engineer or similar technical sales role.
- Strong technical understanding combined with proven commercial and customer-facing experience.
- Experience within chemical, pharmaceutical, process engineering or similar industrial environments would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of corrosion-resistant materials, heat exchangers or specialist process equipment would be beneficial.
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent demonstrable technical experience.
- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Comfortable with regular UK and Ireland travel and occasional European travel.
- Commercially driven, technically minded and confident dealing with customers at all levels.
