Key Experience & Technical Requirements:

We are seeking an individual with a strong technical understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes. While commercial skills can be developed, it is essential that the successful candidate has the technical knowledge and experience to accurately interpret engineering information and produce reliable manufacturing costings.

The role requires a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of fabrication processes, including but not limited to:

  • Plate and tube/pipe bending and rolling
  • Cutting and profiling
  • Drilling and machining
  • Heat treatment processes
  • Welding across a variety of materials, including copper, carbon steel and stainless steel, with knowledge of specialist welding techniques
  • Mechanical assembly
  • Testing and inspection
  • Surface preparation and painting/coating processes

The successful candidate will be able to interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify the manufacturing processes required for each component or assembly. They will have the knowledge to determine the most suitable manufacturing route, whether through in-house production or external suppliers. A key aspect of the role is the ability to estimate manufacturing times for each stage of the fabrication process, enabling the production of accurate and commercially competitive costings and quotations.

Candidates should be confident working within an engineering manufacturing environment and possess a practical understanding of how fabricated components progress from raw material through to finished product.
