  • Electrical Design Engineer (CDAE) Inside IR35 Stafford
  • 12 month Contract

We're looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer preferably with CDAE Experience working on major National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) projects.

You'll be the person responsible for reviewing and signing off HV/EHV substation designs.

Taking ownership of HV/EHV substation design approvals.

Reviewing and signing off design packages in line with National Grid requirements.

Leading the delivery of primary plant designs across AIS, GIS and HVDC projects.

Producing and reviewing drawings, layouts, calculations and 3D models.

Managing design changes and ensuring everything remains compliant throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with National Grid Design Assurance Engineers to support successful design audits.

Attending design and hazard review meetings and helping drive best practice across projects.

Coordinating with Civil, Protection & Control, Cable and OHL teams to ensure designs work seamlessly together.

Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

Experience

A degree in Electrical, Power or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Around 7+ years' experience in HV/EHV substation design.

Good understanding of National Grid design processes and specifications.

Thorough understanding of UK Transmission standards -National Grid, SSE, SPEN, NGED, UKPN Experience leading designs, reviewing technical outputs and managing design approvals.

Familiarity with Design Reviews, Hazard Reviews and change control processes.

Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders.

Knowledge of CAD and ideally exposure to BIM tools such as Revit or Navisworks.
