Profile:
As a Sales Specialist, you will be reporting to the UK Sales and Market Manager, working closely with the Bid and Sales team on large project opportunities over $50M. Your main objective will be to lead and guide the capture team to develop newly identified opportunities and position the company as partner of choice, deliver high quality and strategically focused bids, and lead negotiations for successful contract closure. This position involves working in collaboration across many stakeholders and will require excellent open and honest communication skills, with a strategic mind and an ability to work with a team to strict deadlines.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Driving high quality submissions with a de-risked strategy and in line with company performance drivers and values.
- A high focus on Health and Safety to support our companies’ licences to operate.
- Financial understanding to support commercial submissions and drive through forecast opportunities to deliver on budget.
- Understanding at a high level Technical Evaluation of client enquiry documentation and interpretation of their requirements and assessment of commercial terms and conditions.
- Ensuring the tendering team formulates competitive bids/estimates/quotations, considering the best available system mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations for each individual situation.
- Working with the tendering team to manage the preparation of all technical, financial, cash flow and operational delivery aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions. Reviewing bids before submission and ensuring appropriate governance has been followed.
- Drive project deliverables to ensure key target dates and submissions are maintained.
- Report to Line manager progress and actions during the submission process, driving the team to deliver and highlighting any potential challenges.
- Establish and maintain effective customer relationships to understand customer needs. Provide any necessary support to Sales and Bid team members during meetings with customers.
- Lead complex bids and customer negotiations.
- Work across different business streams, cultures, and countries. Your success will depend heavily on your ability to network and build relationships with people from all parts of the organisation, UK and overseas.
- Identifying the key business drivers within customer’s operations and interpreting the implications and opportunities for the company.
- Participating in and leading the creation of sales strategies for the account, informed by the customer’s current and future business plans.
- Participates in negotiations of major contracts to secure sales volume.
Ideal Background:
- A proven record of accomplishment in team management and delivery of substation projects.
- Proven sales and risk management experience focused on winning forecast opportunities.
- Sales experience selling solutions rather than product.
- Proven record of accomplishment as a manager building and developing high performance sales teams.
- Proven sales and Account Management experience within Sustainable Energy industry or similar.
- Bachelor's degree or HNC in engineering or similar STEM fields.
- Demonstrable experience of managing large customer relationships.
- Extensive experience in leading and/or delivering complex solution-based opportunities.
- Proven customer and stakeholder management skills, well-developed problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter and a people-person.
- High Voltage (HV) and (400kV–132kV) and MV (66kV-11kV) knowledge and Industrial substation experience is preferred.
