NES Fircroft are recruiting an Electrical Technician on behalf of our client, a leading Oil & Gas operator, based at the Bacton Terminal, Norwich. This is a 2-year contract position working a shift pattern of 7 days on, 7 days off with 12-hour day shifts.
Overview: This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Technician to become an integral part of our Client’s maintenance team at our Bacton Gas Terminal. Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, you will work alone or with colleagues as required to complete tasks effectively, safely and with due regard to the environment and the security of the terminal.
You will be expected to work with a range of electrical systems including:
- 11kV/415V transformers
- 11kV, 3.3kV and 415V switchgear
- 3.3kV and LV motors
- battery charger / UPS systems
- 3.3kV generator
- small power / lighting circuits
The successful candidate will have proven maintenance and fault-finding experience within a large-scale industrial, production or process environment.
Duties to include:
- Provide reactive breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment
- Ability to read electrical drawings, diagnose and fault find on electrical equipment
- Carry out preventative maintenance tasks on electrical equipment
- Execute electrical tasks safely and effectively in compliance with regulations
Experience:
- Proven maintenance and fault-finding skills on the following electrical systems:
- 11kV/415V transformers and switchgear
- UPS and battery charger systems
- 11kV ring main units
- 3.3kV and LV motors
- Small power / lighting and trace heating circuits
- Ability to understand and apply isolations across various voltage levels
- Good interpersonal skills, you will be expected to supervise various electrical subcontractors
- Working on electrical equipment within hazardous areas
- Ability to carry out testing on protection relays
- Experience with a maintenance management system
- Experience with a management of change system
- Experience with a permit to work system
Qualifications/Training:
- City & Guilds apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3
- 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations
- Valid CompEX (Ex 01-04) is essential
- Safe Operation of High Voltage Systems
- Transformer testing and maintenance
- Protection of electrical power systems
- City and Guilds Inspection and Testing
- Cable Operator
- Radio Detection
- MEWP training
