Are you a meticulous and supportive engineering leader with a talent for ensuring excellence through every stage of a project? NES Fircroft has been retained to support a world-leading infrastructure services provider who is seeking a Technical Assurance Lead to join their collaborative joint venture in London/Birmingham, playing a vital role in the self-assured delivery of the HS2 Track infrastructure project.

In this role, you will act as a guardian of project integrity, capturing and demonstrating compliance with the highest standards. You will foster a culture of transparency and quality, mentoring their teams to ensure that the infrastructure they build is safe, integrated, and robustly evidenced for the generations to come.

As the new Technical Assurance Lead, some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • Nurture the Assurance Strategy: Take overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the Requirements and Assurance Management Plan (RAMP), ensuring a thoughtful and progressive approach to technical self-assurance.
  • Uphold Technical Integrity: Establish and maintain the Technical Requirements Baseline, ensuring that all designs are carefully aligned with works information, statutory obligations, and safety standards.
  • Champion Progressive Delivery: Lead the "first line of defence" by ensuring the project progressively delivers a self-certified product that is safe to build, operate, and maintain, while providing robust evidence for stakeholders.
  • Empower and Mentor Teams: Provide compassionate guidance and awareness training to design and construction teams, empowering them to navigate the technical lifecycle stages with confidence and clarity.
  • Foster Collaborative Reviews: Facilitate insightful stage-gate reviews and assurance panels, working closely with clients and regulatory bodies to identify risks and opportunities for shared success.

To excel in this role, we are looking for candidates with:

  • Academic & Professional Foundation: Holds a degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or a related field), with Chartered status (CEng/IMechE/ICE) being highly valued as a sign of professional dedication.
  • Major Project Expertise: Proven experience in major multi-disciplinary rail or infrastructure environments, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges found in high-speed railway projects.
  • Mastery of Assurance Processes: Proficient in design coordination and the management of complex assurance documentation, including verification and validation (V&V) matrices and stage-gate certifications.
  • Inclusive Leadership Style: Exceptional communication skills with a positive, collaborative approach and the ability to listen deeply to the needs of diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Focused and Methodical: An enthusiastic team player with the confidence to make thoughtful decisions and a practical focus on harmonizing quality requirements with buildability.

If you are a professional, self-disciplined Technical Assurance Lead with a passion for the construction industry and a desire to add tangible value to major project delivery, we encourage you to apply.
