Inbound Logistics Lead
Sunbury, UK (Hybrid Working - 3 Days Office / 2 Days Remote)
The Role As Inbound Logistics Lead, you will be responsible for developing and executing logistics strategies that ensure materials are delivered efficiently from global and local suppliers through to operational sites. You will oversee transportation, freight forwarding, customs clearance, logistics providers, and supply chain risk management activities. This position offers the opportunity to influence logistics operations from a strategic and operational perspective while helping to build and enhance long-term supply chain capability within a major energy development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead inbound logistics and transportation activities across international and domestic supply chains.
- Manage freight forwarders, customs brokers, transportation providers, and logistics contractors.
- Develop logistics strategies that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance supply chain resilience.
- Oversee customs and import/export compliance activities.
- Monitor logistics performance through KPIs, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with procurement, operations, projects, drilling, and materials management teams to ensure material availability.
- Identify and mitigate logistics and supply chain risks.
- Support the development of logistics procedures, governance frameworks, and best practices.
- Drive improvements in supplier delivery performance and lead-time reduction initiatives.
About You
We are looking for a logistics and supply chain professional with experience operating within large-scale industrial, energy, engineering, or infrastructure environments.
You will ideally have:
- Significant experience in logistics, materials management, or supply chain operations.
- Strong knowledge of international freight, transportation management, customs processes, and trade compliance.
- Experience working within complex project-driven environments.
- Proven stakeholder management and supplier relationship skills.
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP.
- Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Degree qualified, with CIPS or equivalent professional accreditation desirable.
