Overview
NES Fircroft are representing a respected operator in the UK Oil and Gas sector. We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer (Projects) to lead electrical engineering projects and discipline support at Wytch Farm, one of Europe’s largest onshore oil and gas assets.
This is a strategic role focused on managing CAPEX and OPEX modifications, maintaining discipline integrity, and ensuring compliance with engineering and safety standards. The position also offers key support to ongoing site operations and provides leadership in technical governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery
- Lead the scoping and execution of electrical-biased capital and operational projects.
- Contribute electrical support to cross-functional engineering initiatives.
- Perform technical calculations and design reviews to ensure safe and accurate outcomes.
- Take part in safety risk assessments including HAZOP and LOPA processes.
- Maintain compliance with Engineering Technical Practices and site-wide Safety Management Systems.
- Discipline Assurance & Engineering Support
- Conduct peer reviews during Management of Change processes and contribute to risk mitigation planning.
- Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Mentor and support graduate engineers progressing through structured development programmes.
- Assist with site audit preparations and compliance activities (ISO14001 and ISO45001).
- Operational Leadership
- Provide guidance and operational support in the absence of the Senior Site Electrical Engineer.
- Support maintenance strategies, reliability reviews, and ATEX compliance.
- Approve electrical documentation and contribute to risk evaluation and regulatory engagement.
- Help manage discipline-critical spares and liaise with technical authority partners.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent).
- Significant experience in electrical project engineering and operations.
- Strong understanding of HV networks, fault level modelling, and system load flow.
- Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and leadership abilities.
- Proactive attitude with a strong safety and environmental focus.
